On Thursday 1st May 54 Red Rosettes travelled via coach, air and train from sunny Leyland over the North Sea to Helsingborg in Sweden to compete in the European Barbershop Convention 2025.
Following a long day of travel on Thursday, with some airport and train station singing thrown in for good measure, we settled down for a good nights sleep before arriving at the convention centre bright and early on Friday morning ready to give the performance of a lifetime. After one final rehearsal we put our nerves to one side and took to the incredible Helsingborg Arena stage, alongside 16 other international Women's chorus's.
We are over the moon to announce that all of our hard work paid off and
we achieved our highest ever score in a contest (84.8) making us 5th in Europe in our category which qualifies us for internationals!
The chorus spent the rest of the weekend celebrating whilst exploring the beautiful city before travelling back to the (warmer!) UK on Sunday - I don't think any of us have come back down to earth yet.
A huge well done to our friends in our respective Barbershop associations for such fantastic performances over the last few days and a special thank you to
LABBS - the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers for nominating us and our friends in
London City Singers to represent our association in the women's chorus contest. It was an absolute honour and privilege.
None of this would have been possible without the vision, drive and inspiration of our fantastic musical director, Emma who takes us from strength to strength and always believe in us.
We also have a superb performance team, music team and dress team who make sure we look and sound amazing - thank you to all those involved.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has sponsored us to help support us financially for this mammoth trip. We wouldn't have been able to get so many of us over to Sweden without your support.
We are now taking a well deserved rest but will be back to rehearsals in 2 weeks to start preparing for LABBS in Autumn 2025!
