About Us
1. Who are The Red Rosettes?
We are a friendly and award-winning barbershop chorus that sings in four-part harmony. Based in Leyland we love creating a cappella music together and welcome new members who share our passion for singing!
2. What is barbershop singing?
Barbershop is a cappella (voice-only) singing in four-part harmony, creating a rich, ringing sound. It’s a fun and rewarding style that blends teamwork, vocal skill, and performance energy!
3. Do I need to have singing experience to join?
No formal experience is necessary! If you love to sing, can hold a tune, and are willing to learn, we’d love to meet you. We’ll help you find the right voice part and support your musical growth.
4. What voice parts do you have?
Barbershop singing has four parts:
• Lead (melody)
• Bass (low harmony)
• Baritone (middle harmony)
• Tenor (high harmony)
We’ll help you find the part that best suits your voice.
Joining Process
5. How can I join?
The best way to start is by attending one of our open rehearsals. You’ll meet the chorus, try some singing, and see if you enjoy it! To register interest, contact us through our website.
6. What happens at an open rehearsal?
You’ll get a warm welcome, listen to us sing, and try some songs with the group. We’ll introduce you to barbershop harmony and help you find your voice part.
7. Is there an audition?
Yes, but don’t worry - it’s a friendly and supportive process! After a few rehearsals, if you decide you’d like to join, we’ll ask you to sing a song in a quartet (with support) to check your pitch, rhythm, and blending skills.
8. Do I need to read music?
No! While reading music is helpful, it’s not required. We provide learning tracks to help you practice.
Rehearsals & Commitment
9. When and where do you rehearse?
We rehearse every [day of the week] at [time] in [venue/location]. Details are on our website.
10. What is the commitment like?
We rehearse weekly and perform at various events throughout the year. Members are encouraged to attend regularly to keep up with our repertoire and enjoy the full experience!
11. Is there a membership fee?
Yes, we have a small membership fee to cover rehearsal space and materials. We can discuss payment options if needed.
Performing & Social Side
12. Do I have to perform?
Performing is a big part of our group, but there’s no pressure at first! Many new members take time to build confidence before stepping on stage.
13. What kind of performances do you do?
We perform at concerts, competitions, community events, and sometimes even surprise flash mobs!
14. Is it just about singing?
Not at all! We’re a social, supportive group that enjoys getting together for fun activities, workshops, and post-rehearsal catch-ups.
