Ever wanted to sing in a choir? Now is your chance to get a taster of what it might be like! We are running a 4-week Learn to Sing course in June where you will have the chance to learn the song “Songbird” with us. Along the way, we will teach you some of the essential techniques to help you sing well including: breathing and posture, voice placement, vowel shaping and performance skills.

We ask that you arrive to sessions no later than 19:15 so we can give you a proper welcome and get you set up. Our Learn to Sing course is taking place during our usual rehearsal night and we will be continuing our usual rehearsal until 22:00 which Learn to Sing visitors are very welcome to stay for.
What to expect from the Learn to Sing course
- On arrival, we will take some details from you and answer any questions you have
- You will be taken into a quiet area where a member of our music team will ask you to sing a scale. This is so we can work out which of our four sections your voice might be best suited to. Our four voice sections from lowest to highest are Bass, Baritone, Lead and Tenor
- There will be risers set up, and you will be encouraged to stand next to someone who is in the same voice part as you
- We start our sessions with a warm-up and an introduction to some of the singing techniques
- Within the session, you will be provided with a copy of the sheet music of “Songbird” and we will use the sessions to help you learn this. Don’t worry if you can’t read music, we will also email you “teach tracks” which are audio recordings of the music so you can listen to these at home
- At the end of the course, if you were interested in becoming a member of the Red Rosettes, you will be offered a chance to do an audition. This is less scary than it sounds, and you can have a practice audition if you feel a bit nervous.
